Dorney Wood Scout Campsite » About the site

About the site

Located on the western edge of Burnham Beeches, the site features a large open field, naturally screened from a narrow road on one side and open into woodland on the other. A considerable number of mature trees stand around the site and “chalk dips” provide attractive landscape features, including one used as a campfire circle with seating for up to 600 people and one suitable for bridge building over.

Able to camp up to 300, there is a modern toilet block with facilities for those with special needs. There is a storm hut, which has a small kitchen and a large area with tables and chairs, however this is not suitable for Pack holidays. Within the storm hut is a small room for use by leaders. The “Lid” which is a barn type covered activity area of 800 sq feet provides additional shelter. There is also a Bouldering wall which is available by request, however this activity must be supervised at all times.

The site does not have any activities but within a few miles there are swimming pools and ice skating at Slough, bowling, lazer tag and swimming at Maidenhead and boating at Marlow. Additional tourist attractions are Windsor Castle, Bekonscot Model Village, caves, motor museum, Shire Horse Centre, Rare Breeds Farm, Thorpe Park and LegoLand, all within a 35 minute drive.

The nearest public transport and shops are two miles away.
